YEAR END CLUB COMPETITIONS AND AWARDS

The following year end competition results and awards are announced at the Annual Awards Banquet in April. Images for these competitions are submitted at the first meeting in March. The rules for preparing images for monthly competitions apply to all images submitted in the year end competitions.

DCC ANNUAL AWARD
One member may be chosen each year for the DCC Annual Award given for outstanding service to the club. The selection is by committee, which is appointed and chaired by the President.

HIGH TOTAL POINTS AWARDS
Awards are presented to members earning the three highest point totals in each category and class of monthly club competitions. The High Total Points for each individual is the sum of the highest 9 scores from the 10 monthly competitions. If a member fails to turn in images in a particular monthly competition, he/she will receive 0 points for that month.

FELLOWSHIP AWARDS
Fellowship Awards are presented annually to those members who have submitted 90% or more of the eligible entries and who rank first, second or third in standings in Color Print Class M, Monochrome Print Class A/M or Projection Image Class M at the end of the competition year. The award is won only once, and is a permanent honor for the recipient. The designation “Fellow of the Dallas Camera Club” and the initials “FDCC” may be used as an identifying mark by the member so honored.

PRINT AND PROJECTED IMAGE-OF-THE-YEAR AWARDS
Prints and Projected Images placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any monthly competition class are eligible for Print or Projection Image-of-the-Year Awards. Eligible prints and projected images are submitted for judging in March. Awards are presented for the three highest placing images in each category and class.

Members with winning prints or projected images are expected to make them available to the Print or Projected Image Chairs for the Image-of-the-Year contest. Any DCC photographer not wishing his or her images to be available should discuss those wishes with the print and/or projected image chairpersons.

SPECIAL ANNUAL COMPETITIONS
Images for these competitions are submitted at the first meeting in March. The following rules apply to all four of the following special competitions:

  • All DCC members may enter the competitions.
  • Up to four images may be submitted for each competition.
  • All images in monthly competitions, including winners, are eligible.
  • Images need not have been submitted in the monthly competitions.Only one award will be presented per competition with no class distinction (Beginner/Advanced/Master)
  • Image preparation guidelines are the same as those used for the monthly competitions.
  • Images winning a special competition award may be submitted in future monthly competitions, if otherwise eligible.

The J.J. Spurlock Award for Creative Portraiture—Prints
Only images of people should be entered in this contest. Entries will be monochrome or color prints.

The Marge Dance Award for Contemporary Images—Projected Images
Entries will be of contemporary photography depicting subjects in a substantial departure from realism, where the picture is non-objective, through the use of various non-standard techniques and controls (derivations, diffractions, distortions, black light, bas relief, montage, dye coloring, kodalith processes, multiple exposures, etch-dye, solarization, diazochrome, multiple images with trick lenses, motion blur, patterns, selective focus, diffusion, zoomed exposures, computer-modified images and other techniques). Entries will be projected images.

The Milton J. Rudick Award for Travel —Projected Images
The subject matter is unlimited; however, the images must have been taken while traveling outside the Metroplex during the last 12 months. Entries will be projected images.

Ken Zapp Field Trip Image-of-the-Year Award—Projected Images
Images must have been photographed during any of the club field trips during the last 12 months. Entries will be projected images.
