Here is some more information provided by Dody Bracken

    WHAT THEY ARE ALL ABOUT

    J.J.SPURLOCK CREATIVE PORTRAIT AWARD

J.J.Spurlock, whom everyone knew as “Jim,” was a long time member of
DCC and specialized in black & white portraiture. He gained national and
International recognition for a technique he developed in the darkroom
applying texture to his portraits. Only a few people in the club and in PSA
    learned this technique.
When he died, Mrs. Spurlock suggested instead of flowers the DCC
establish a Creative Portrait Award and insisted it not be limited to
monochrome, but also include color prints.

    Marge Dance Contemporary Award

Marge Dance was a very creative photographer and was always trying
new ways to express her photography. She was one of the first DCC
members to use mylar and blue lights with fluorescent poster boards.
Upon her death DCC established an award in her honor in lieu of
    flowers.

    Milton Rudick Travel Award

Milton was a long-time member and supporter of the DCC and was
always available if the club or any member needed help. Travel was
his passion in photography. After he died his family established a
fund for this special award in his memory. It is specifically for travel
this past year and can be anywhere other than the metroplex.

    Ken Zapp Field Trip Award

After being the guest speaker at a GSCCC Convention the DCC hosted,
and then becoming a lifetime member of DCC, Ken suggested having
a slide show after each field trip. His idea of having a different person
each time, with his help, present the slide show was such a resounding
success, that an award was created in his honor. The entries for this
award must be from a field trip made during the current year.
