MEETINGS
The Dallas Camera Club meets on the first and third Tuesdays each month.
Competitions are held monthly with images being submitted on the first Tuesday meeting each month starting in May with final submissions in February. The results of the judging are presented at the first Tuesday meeting of the month following submission. During the meeting, an outside judge will comment on the previous month’s entries.
On the third Tuesday, a photography related program is presented featuring outside speakers or club members. Training classes are generally held prior to this meeting. Both are announced in the newsletter.
Refreshments and social time start at 7:00 p.m. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. and are usually over by 9:30 p.m. The
club meets at the Parker Chiropractic College. Look for the Pisciottano Building, room S220. Click here**
for directions and a printable map. Visitors are always welcome!
**The Dallas Camera Club is not affiliated with the College so please do not call them for information.
COMPETITIONS
The club sponsors and participates in a variety of competitions for its membership. These provide an opportunity to have
others view and comment on one’s images. They include monthly, yearly and interclub competitions.
See the Competitions page for more information.
FIELD TRIPS
Field trips are scheduled throughout the year to provide photo opportunities and
allow club members to exchange photographic information and ideas. Field trips also allow club members to socialize and
become more acquainted with each other. A special audio-visual presentation is prepared for each field trip and shown at a
future meeting. Here are some hints for producing
and preparing audio-visual presentations.
ANNUAL POTPOURRI SHOW AND AUDIO-VISUAL PRESENTATIONS
In addition to the field trip presentations, each year members are encouraged to present their works in themed audio-visual
presentations for the Annual Potpourri show. These popular shows are presented at the first May meeting and allow members
to exhibit images that may not have been previously seen. Here are some hints for
producing and
preparing audio-visual presentations.
ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET
The DCC holds an Annual Awards Banquet on the first Tuesday in April. Outside judges select the best images in all classes
and categories of prints and projected images for the year’s competition. Awards are also given to the members who
earned the highest total points in each class and category during the club year. Other
club awards and installation of new officers complete this social event.
ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY
In December, the DCC holds a potluck holiday party. Members exchange moderately-priced gifts.
NEWSLETTER
The club publishes a monthly newsletter, Thru the Lens, which is distributed to all members. The newsletter contains
articles and information about photography, club activities, programs, and competition results and standings. Current and
past Newsletters are available on this site.
MENTORS AND TRAINING
DCC has an informal mentoring program. Guidance is available from experienced photographers upon request. Training sessions
are offered prior to the third Tuesday meetings on topics of general interest to newer photographers.
