Rob Hull

Program Description — Quality of Light

Light is the most fundamental building block of photography. In this presentation, Rob Hull will explore the three key characteristics that define the quality of light striking a subject—brightness, color, and direction—and show how each shapes the way we see and photograph the world. He’ll also reveal how light interacts with subjects and how understanding these interactions leads to more deliberate control over mood, texture, and depth. You’ll gain practical techniques for recognizing and harnessing light to create more compelling and emotionally resonant images.

Speaker Biography — Rob Hull

Rob Hull is a Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, and Certified Professional Photographer based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. An award-winning photographer and educator, Rob has taught thousands of photographers through workshops, classes, and presentations worldwide. He is a past president of the Dallas Professional Photographers Association. DCC DECEMBER 2025 FIELD TRIP

WHAT: Sunrise Snow Geese, Catfish, and Whiskey
WHERE: Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge
WHEN: Saturday December 13th

For those of you who enjoy a nice sunrise, join us at the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge near Dennison to welcome a new day (at 7:22 AM) and then spend the rest of the morning photographing. If you don’t care to get up that early that’s fine, join us when you can. This fall the refuge added to its planted acreage so there should be plenty of food for the migrating geese. For lunch, we will head east across US 75 to Huck’s Catfish restaurant in Dennison at noon. For anyone interested, you can sign up for a tour of the nearby award winning Ironroot Republic Distillery.
