Jan Dreskin-Haig
Explorations Near and Far
DCC member, Jan Dreskin-Haig graduated with an MFA in printmaking from the University of Michigan. Working in multiple mediums, she incorporates a common aesthetic, with concerns for color, space, layering, line quality and energy. Her work is included in public and private collections including the National Gallery of Art and the National Museum of American Art in Washington, DC.
Jan is also the director for the North Dallas Artist Studio Tour (NDAST), a position she has held for 14 years. The NDAST takes place the 4th weekend in April every year, with 2026 the 21st year for the tour. The NDAST is a self-guided driving and walking tour which this year included 25 artists in 20 home studios. During the tour, guests visit working studios and see art of many disciplines, in all of stages of creation.
Every week Jan participates in figure drawing sessions, attends location sketching with a group of artist friends, and works in her studio on larger works or ceramics, taking photos all the time. She concentrates on photography with her husband, Don as they travel, hike and attend Dallas Camera Club activities. They love to take their cameras and explore, looking for special photos.
In this club presentation, Jan will take you on their travels and share some of the favorite places they have hiked with heavy gear and the most successful of the resulting photos. Post processing with various applications also fascinates her, so she will share some of her successes.
She happily has one of these creative photos “Girl on Her Porch” taken in Mexico accepted in the current “Hecho” Exhibition at the Dallas Bath House Cultural Center, open June 6 – July 24.

Call for Images
Thanks to those that came out to yesterday's field trip to Denison for the Legends Martial Arts Exhibition. I hope you enjoyed it, and I'm sorry I could not be with you. I understand that there were about 10 members there, so instead of just 6 images per member, feel free send 10 - 12 images, plus any of other members you may have captured. You can also put your watermark on each image if you want, and your name in the saved file. Send them to me at rwsntx@gmail.com as soon as you can. I'd like to have the slideshow ready for the first meeting in July.
Let me know if you have any questions.

July, DIY – USA’s 250th Birthday!
Have you heard that our great country is celebrating a birthday in July? It's a BIG birthday, 250 years to be exact, and there will be celebrations going on all over the country. We will have a DIY field trip to help commemorate the USofA's birthday, so get your camera's ready and pick a place to take some pictures! It could be somewhere local, or anywhere you might travel to. There will be the usual fireworks going off, which always make great photographs, but this year, there will be more. I am especially interested in seeing pictures of any USA birthday celebrations. Parades. Festivals. Picnics, and even family picnics if you want to share images of your family, if you like them enough, that is. ;-) Additionally, anything else you might find that celebrates this great milestone. I'd like to get about 6 - 7 images from you on this one by July 30. You can send them to me at rwsntx@gmail.com. This DIY field trip will be in addition to our regularly scheduled July field trip to the Frontiers of Flight Museum on July 18.
